Make up an inventory of stored items and store in a secure location
Place items that you may need to access often in the front
Allow for walkways
Use uniform size boxes for easy stacking and fill boxes to capacity to fill all empty spaces
Insure boxes are strong enough to hold 25 to 30 lbs
Wrap dishes and glasses should be wrapped in paper, packed in strong boxes then stacked on top
Pictures and mirrors should be wrapped in cardboard or mirror boxes, marked "Fragile", and stacked on end
Saving Space
Larger appliances make excellent "storage space" for blankets, towels, and clothes
Shovels, hoes, rakes, and hoses can be stored together in empty trash cans
Stack lighter boxes on top of heavier boxes
Tables having removable legs should be "broken down" to save space
Sofas and love-seats can be stored on end to save floor space
Cover mattresses, stuffed furniture and cushions with plastic to protect against dust
Store mattresses flat on of boxes or furniture or proped on their side to prevent becoming lumpy
Caution
Do not store perishable items (flour, potatoes, candy...)
Always use a quality lock on your door
Do not lay mirrors flat
Properly treat antiques and wood furniture before storing
Equipment should be drained of gasoline before being put in storage
To prevent mold ensure all items are dry
CAUTION: Do not store anything COMBUSTIBLE (i.e., paint thinner, gasoline, solvents, paint, etc.). Our rules and regulations prohibit the storage of these items
